"What have you done today for which you traded a day of your life?"
I have given it away gratis, have taken nothing in exchange. I have not watched the sun rise nor set across our skies, nor warm the earth during the day. I have not felt the rain fall, and I have not felt thankful nor even understood the food I have consumed. I have not stretched my body or my mind, and I have not accomplished even the most menial of tasks. If I am allowed to speak after it is over, I will surely complain that it all went away too fast, all the days of my life, like sand sifted through fingers; a clumsy, careless hourglass. I have watched as they fell, have scattered the free grains along a dead beach, have hardly cared. I have given it away gratis.
